Paring Knife

A paring knife is a small, sharp knife that has a variety of uses in the kitchen. The paring knife has a short blade, typically between 2½ and 4 inches long, and an edge that looks like a smaller, plainer version of a chef’s knife. Its most common use is peeling (or “paring”) fruits and vegetables, the job that gave the knife its name. But there are plenty of other uses for paring knives, including slicing up ingredients, removing seeds, and de-veining shellfish or creating garnishes.
